Duties Description
The incumbent will be tasked with creating social media and web videos, and long format videos across a variety of platforms including Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat and labor.ny.gov. The incumbent will also be responsible for the production of high-quality training videos for the Department of Labor and other NYS agencies.
This position requires a high degree of creativity and the ability to keep up with the constantly and rapidly evolving technology trends.
Working with the Manager of Graphics, video duties will include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and advise with the Communications staff on the development of content strategy.
- Oversee the production of training and social media videos.
- Act as liaison with and provide recommendations for agency program staff and production staff.
- Work closely with clients on proposals and pitch concepts.
- Oversee project concept development, timelines, and strategy.
- Create and review preliminary scripts for multimedia productions.
- Schedule and coordinate dates with staff and talent.
- Direct, schedule and supervise the editing of projects.
- Oversee marketing strategies for all assigned multimedia discipline areas.
- Establish quality control and performance standards and mentor staff on those standards.
- Assist in employees’ evaluations.
- Provide technical support to lower level video, audio, visual, graphics arts and administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Seven years of experience in one or more of the following assignment areas with a national network, local network television affiliate, cable news, commercial media production facility, marketing communications agency or related operation. College study in a related field may be substituted for up to four years of experience with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience.
- Engineering or newsroom technology specialist, master control operator, media ingest operator, and/or media data center operator; OR
- Production planner, production assistant, traffic coordinator, assistant account executive, or assignment editor; OR
- News videographer, studio camera operator, art director, copywriter, graphic designer, video editor, producer, or web designer; OR
- Broadcast engineer, uplink engineer, maintenance engineer, or broadcast systems integration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
