Customer Service Clerk - Medina Library - Part-Time

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:

The Medina County District Library is seeking a Customer Service Clerk to provide great customer service to patrons and staff. Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Registering new patrons
  2. Checking out materials
  3. Assisting patrons with Library equipment
  4. Collecting monies
  5. Preparing and making bank deposits
  6. Resolving problems for patrons
  7. Processing library materials
  8. Processing passport applications
  9. Answering telephones
  10. Serving as a receptionist welcoming patrons to the library
  11. Performing other clerical duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must possess a high school degree or equivalent and be a U.S. citizen, eligible to become a passport acceptance agent. One year experience working with the public is required. Additional qualifications include:

  1. Keyboarding skills
  2. Ability to learn computerized circulation system
  3. Ability to perform simple calculations
  4. Effective communication skills
  5. Friendly demeanor in dealing with others
  6. Ability to work as a team member

Customer service experience is a plus.

WAGE: $12.06 per hour; additional $2.00 per hour Sunday premium; Grade 1

BENEFITS: Vacation, sick leave, personal days, holidays, and other benefits based on Union contract; Public Employees Retirement System

HOURS: Part time; 20 hours per week; flexible schedule required including some evenings, Saturdays and Sundays (schedule subject to change based on needs of the library)
