Executive Producer, Experiential Storytelling
As an Executive Producer, Experiential Storytelling, you will spearhead a transformation, leading a forward-thinking team to redefine how local news is created and consumed. You will manage and inspire a small group of nontraditional journalists, oversee the production of experimental video content, and leverage data-driven insights to craft a new, audience-centered vision, propelling us forward with delivering local news in a modern, relevant, and meaningful way.
This role is located in Roanoke, VA.
Key Responsibilities
Build and mentor a small, dynamic team of nontraditional journalists, fostering a high level of creativity, collaboration, and experimentation.
Inspire the team to produce innovative, high-quality local news videos daily.
Oversee the creation of daily social media-focused videos that engage a digital-savvy audience.
Provide training that develops storytelling styles that differentiate us from competitors and appeal to modern-day news consumers.
Use digital audience analytics to evaluate the performance of daily video experiments.
Identify and implement the storytelling styles that resonate most with target audiences.
Adapt content strategies based on data insights to continuously improve engagement.
In partnership with both corporate news leaders and the local station leadership, apply insights from content experiments to reshape news products, ensuring they align with the preferences and values of the target audience.
Requirements
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
Proven experience in digital media, content strategy, or news production with a focus on innovation.
Minimum of 3 years of experience leading successful creative teams.
Deep understanding of social media platforms, audience analytics, and modern storytelling techniques.
A passion for rethinking traditional approaches to local news and connecting with underrepresented audiences.
The ability to motivate and inspire a team to think and act in innovative ways.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits.
