Job Description

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) is the national medical society representing emergency medicine. Through continuing education, research, public education, and advocacy, ACEP advances emergency care on behalf of its 41,000 emergency physician members, and the more than 150 million Americans they treat on an annual basis.

Located in Irving, TX, we offer paid insurance plans (medical, dental, and vision), retirement, flexible scheduling, and more. This role is open to DC-local applicants primarily – fully remote candidates may be considered if qualified. For local employees, a hybrid schedule of in-office work and work-from-home is possible upon approval by the manager.

The Public Relations & Content Manager is accountable for increasing awareness of ACEP amongst its members as well as external audiences. This role will promote the impact, priorities, and successes that make ACEP an advocate for emergency physicians. A key component of this position is the translation of complex science, data, and police for a diverse audience across multiple channels of communication.

Duties for this position include (but are not limited to) managing day-to-day content deliverables (including press releases, editorials, fact sheets, etc.), working on multichannel campaigns, creating posts/infographics as well as direct communications, maintaining media relationships, identifying topics/stories, and assisting with media training for ACEP staff.

Our ideal candidate has…

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience with distilling complex topics into clear and concise communication through the utilization of multiple communication formats/channels.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Other desired qualifications include a master’s degree, familiarity with health-related issues (especially in emergency medicine), prior experience working with a membership association, brand management skills, and prior experience in crisis communications.

We are an E-Verify and equal opportunity employer who prizes diversity and inclusion. We offer a tobacco-free environment.
