Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Onsite with Availability To Be Remote One Day a Week.
Setting: Occupational Health Clinical Center
Two positions available.
Locations Available: Syracuse, NY and Albany, NY.

Position Overview:

Excellent communication skills needed.
Communication skills are crucial for success in this position.
Successfully write health grants, justify the grants, and move the health grants through the proper channels.
Important outreach for the clinic.
Research in the public health field.
Ability to provide education on different health issues.
Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of preventive Occupational Health services consistent with the Center's mission.
These activities include outreach, education, research, and other projects that often require collaboration within the center and with external individuals and organizations.

Job Duties:

  1. Willingness to make connections with leaders in the community, i.e., union leaders, attorneys, etc.
  2. Oversee ongoing development of outreach and education programs.
  3. Participate in the design and conduction of outreach and education activities.
  4. Develop a Needs Assessment to focus activities.
  5. Develop methods to increase program awareness generally and among target groups.
  6. Coordinate and provide oversight of activities with agencies contracted for outreach services.
  7. Locate and organize data necessary to support the center's various projects.
  8. Develop educational materials for distribution.
  9. Analyze data from research and other projects, writing up the results for publications and reports.
  10. Maintain the Occupational Health Clinical Center resource library.
  11. Develop grant proposals to fund specific Occupational Health Clinical Center projects.
  12. Respond to requests for technical assistance from staff, patients, medical community, unions, and others.

Academic Duties:

  1. Once a year, the opportunity to teach 1-2 graduate courses/seminars for medical and public health students.
  2. Supervise master's in public health and other students utilizing the Occupational Health Clinical Center as a field placement site.
  3. Capable of conducting research projects.
  4. Mentor Master in Public Health or medical students on independent research projects.
  5. Teach individual modules as needed within Health Systems Science Intersession on Population Health.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a master's in public health with additional graduate-level training focused on social and behavioral dimensions of occupational health.
  2. Public health experience.
  3. Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in academic and occupational health settings.
  4. Doctoral degree in Public Health, or related social science, preferred.
  5. Must have high levels of initiative and commitment to the field of occupational health.
  6. Must have a passion for public health and a willingness to undertake a range of duties, from analyzing data to engaging with workers in the community.
  7. Must have project management skills.
  8. Must possess the ability to support scholarly activities in the field of occupational health, including proficiency in medical, public health, and social science literatures.
  9. Must have the ability to identify and coordinate collaboration with academic and community-based organizations, work on interdisciplinary teams, interface with advisory board members, and/or external professionals.
  10. Must have knowledge of research skills.
