Global Strays, an international animal welfare non-profit, is seeking a Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist to lead and implement the organization’s communication efforts. This role is ideal for a creative, proactive storyteller with exceptional communication skills, a strong commitment to the Global Strays’ mission, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
This is a part-time, remote, contract/freelance position offering flexible hours and potential for growth within the organization. **This is a 3-month contract position with the potential for extension. Our goal is to find someone who is a great fit and, ideally, transition them into a part-time role.
Compensation: $30/hour
Hours: 20-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday (flexible)
Availability: Some morning and early afternoon (EST) availability required for team meetings.
About the Role
The Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing Global Strays’ communication strategy across social media, email newsletters, website content, donor relations, and branding/marketing initiatives. This position plays a key role in donor engagement, retention, and acquisition, using compelling storytelling and messaging to drive support for Global Strays’ programs.
We’re looking for an innovative communicator, passionate about Global Strays mission, who can craft impactful narratives that highlight the real-life impact of our work in underserved communities worldwide. We are seeking a self-starter who works well with small teams, shared decision-making, and embraces change.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Execution
Develop and manage the full life cycle of Global Strays content, including:
Social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, with potential for other platforms) Email newsletters and donor communications Website content and blog posts Marketing materials (reports, toolkits, briefs)
Create and maintain a communications calendar to ensure timely and strategic content release Develop engaging, mission-driven storytelling that resonates with donors and supporters Monitor performance metrics (engagement, traffic, conversion rates) and adjust strategies accordingly Branding, Marketing & Communications
Further establish and implement Global Strays’ branding and identity Collaborate with the team to develop and execute fundraising and awareness campaigns Design compelling graphics and visuals using Canva Assist in event marketing and planning efforts Donor Engagement & Growth
Create targeted outreach and donation appeals to attract new donors Work closely with the Development Specialist to strengthen donor relationships Utilize our CRM database to support donor communication Partnership Development & Multimedia Management
Research potential brand and influencer partnerships Collaborate with the Programs Director to gather impactful content from field partners in Colombia, Nicaragua, Liberia, and beyond Organize and manage Global Strays’ Photo and Video Library Create short-form videos (CapCut, Instagram/Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts) Preferred Experience (While not required, experience in these areas is a plus!)
