The Core Engineering Tools Group is looking for a senior software engineer to be a lead contributor to the rapid prototyping tools used to develop groundbreaking technology in the wearable, out-loud, and automotive product spaces. Our team works with experts from across the company to develop and deploy new technology, enabling the engineering community to perform critical research, advanced development and production prototyping.
The role will entail:
- Collaborating on prototyping systems that mix software languages, protocols, and both off-the-shelf and custom hardware.
- Collaborating with global teams to contribute user-focused functionality.
- Designing systems that integrate hardware and software with a focus on modular and scalable solutions.
- Writing clear code that includes tests and documentation.
- Participating in code review and helping the team maintain a healthy prototyping ecosystem.
- Pairing with our users to troubleshoot, support and educate.
- Contributing to a thriving, collaborative, team-oriented environment and prototyping community.
Beyond technical expertise in software development, candidates must be active learners who enjoy seeking out new information and making connections. We are a dynamic team that has a broad reach, so candidates must enjoy working collaboratively, value team dynamics, and possess high-level interpersonal skills.
Required skills and experience:
- BS or MS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or comparable.
- 7+ years of industry software development experience.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Track record of strong teamwork and collaboration on technical projects.
- Proven experience contributing to a technical community that extends beyond your immediate team.
- A passion for user centric interface (cli, gui, tui, etc) design.
- Ability to learn and write in programming languages like C, C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.
- Understanding of *nix based systems and OS architecture.
- High and low-level software architecture design, documentation, and testing practices.
- Using code quality tools and standards to help maintain the health of a code base as it changes over time.
- Prior experience participating in asynchronous code review and development.
- Experience with automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with both green and brown field project lifecycles.
Valued Experience:
- Audio DSP concepts and frameworks.
- Understanding of processor and bus architectures.
- Experience using communication protocols such as I2C, CAN, TCP/IP, USB, TDM, etc.
- Experience with audio interfaces and protocols such as I2S, MADI, ADAT, A2B, etc.
