Optomi has partnered with an entertainment powerhouse to find their next experienced Technical Writer. This role will be to create and maintain clear, user-centric documentation for internal and external business users. As a key player in our Content Portal team, you’ll ensure that content management processes are easy to understand, accessible, and well-organized, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Maintenance
- Author Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive help center articles, FAQs, tutorials, and user guides explaining platform features, functionality, and troubleshooting steps.
- Transition Support: Write transition-specific content to help users move from legacy systems to the new Content Portal, ensuring clear instructions and process maps.
- Content Structuring: Organize and write clear instructional content for diverse audiences—from beginners to advanced users—ensuring it's accessible and valuable to all.
- Content Updates: Regularly audit and update existing documentation to align with platform changes, new features, bug fixes, and user feedback.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Internal & External Coordination: Work closely with Product Managers, Operators (internal and external), Designers, and Engineers to ensure consistent terminology and accurate content across the Content Portal and help center.
- Product Lifecycle Participation: Engage with product development teams to stay updated on upcoming features, enhancements, and platform updates to create and maintain relevant documentation.
- Identify Pain Points: Collaborate with internal business teams, third-party studios, and networks to identify recurring issues and update documentation to resolve common user concerns.
User-Centric Focus
- User Experience: Write documentation with a strong focus on user needs, ensuring content is intuitive and provides practical solutions to user problems.
- Simplify Complex Concepts: Break down technical concepts into simple, understandable language without losing critical details for more advanced users.
- Improve Usability: Use feedback and data analytics to continuously improve help center content, ensuring it remains clear, useful, and actionable for all users.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Writing Experience: 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, ideally within digital streaming, software, or the tech industry.
- Excellent Writing & Editing Skills: Ability to create clear, concise, and structured documentation that caters to diverse user levels.
- B2B Documentation: Experience writing documentation for both internal teams and external business users in a B2B context.
- Familiarity with Tools: Hands-on experience with documentation tools such as Google Sites, Confluence, or similar platforms used for help centers and knowledge management.
- Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams, including product, engineering, and support, in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts and present them in a digestible way for users.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Media Preparation Experience: Familiarity with video and audio mastering, transcoding, packaging, and timed text materials used in file-based fulfillment workflows.
- Streaming Media Workflow Knowledge: Understanding of streaming-centric workflows, including file transport, transcoding/packaging, and global asset distribution.
- DTC Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with content management systems used in streaming platforms.
