Position Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and data-driven SEO Coordinator to join our OkayAfrica team. As an SEO Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective SEO strategies to drive organic growth, increase search visibility, and ensure our content reaches the widest possible audience. You will work closely with editorial, social media, and marketing teams to optimize content and develop best practices that align with our brand's mission and voice.
Key Responsibilities:
Keyword Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough keyword research to identify high-impact keywords that align with OkayAfrica's content pillars. Provide regular keyword insights and content recommendations to the editorial team. On-Page Optimization: Implement on-page SEO tactics, including meta tags, headers, image optimization, URL structuring, and internal linking. Collaborate with content creators to optimize new and existing content based on SEO best practices. Content Strategy & Collaboration: Work with editorial and content teams to suggest SEO-friendly topics, optimize article formats, and ensure SEO is considered in the content planning process. Technical SEO: Identify and resolve technical SEO issues, including site speed, mobile usability, indexing, and crawlability, in collaboration with our development team. Analytics & Reporting: Monitor and report on organic performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations based on performance data. Regularly update teams on organic traffic growth, keyword rankings, and other KPIs. Competitor Analysis: Analyze competitor sites to identify new SEO opportunities and keep OkayAfrica's content competitive in relevant search spaces. Link Building: Support and implement link-building efforts to increase domain authority and strengthen our backlink profile. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience a plus. Have copywriting experience in updating articles for search re-indexing 1-2 years of experience in SEO, preferably with a focus on content and media platforms. Familiarity with SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog). Knowledge of on-page and technical SEO best practices. Strong analytical skills and experience with performance reporting. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Areya Media Inc. offers the following total compensation package.
Salary: $35/hour at 25 hours/week $3,500/month
