Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Ability to conceptualize and concisely articulate complex issues and ideas
- Strong mastery of the response tone (conversational tone)

- Expertise in Microsoft Business Suite (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive/SharePoint)
Requirements/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline requiring extensive writing of documents, reports, etc.
- Public transit industry experience a plus
- Proposal/technical writing experience a plus
- Professional writing experience (may include business writing, journalism, etc.)
- Experience handling multiple deliverables, produced timely under tight deadlines
- Experience with quality control of written deliverables and/or presentations
Key Accountabilities:
- Proposal Coordination Support
Under the direction of the Proposal Manager:
- Work collaboratively with Commercial VPs and BD Managers to identify and understand required proposal messaging for a given pursuit
- Organize proposal workplans according to technical specifications (RFP requirements) and winning themes gathered from the Commercial VPs and BD Managers
- Work collaboratively and proactively with internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to schedule and complete timely proposal section reviews, gather technical inputs, customize existing language, and obtain approvals
- Track and accurately report on proposal status / progress daily
- Proactively ensure quality control of deliverables
- Receive and incorporate feedback from internal managers and agencies (via debriefs) in order to continually improve content and approach from project to project
- Support BD Admin in proposal production (formatting, printing, binderizing, shipping) as requested
- Technical Proposal Development
- Review RFPs and associated documents to ensure layout and content of proposals are in full compliance with published requirements
- Determine proposal writing approach by studying RFPs, attending strategy meetings, understanding client needs and winning themes
- Leverage boilerplate language (from proposal libraries and/or previous proposals) to produce technically compliant proposal drafts
- Work collaboratively with SMEs and Commercial VPs to capture key concepts and ideas while maintaining consistency in messaging and strategy
- Write new content to address winning themes and/or to fill information gaps, relative to RFP requirements, in existing boilerplate content
- Proactively alert Proposal Manager of any roadblocks to gathering or writing content in advance and assist in plan to ensure every requirement has a response
- Conduct and/or support proposal formatting, design-related activities to ensure proposals are visually appealing
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and achieve improved proposal-writing results by contributing to department process improvement efforts
- Contribute to maintenance and continuous improvement of proposal libraries
- Develop case studies in collaboration with SMEs and International Teams
- Proactively suggest training and development opportunities
- Collaborate with other writers and Proposal Manager to bring innovative ideas to BD leadership
- Other writing, reporting, design tasks as assigned
