Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District is hiring: Adult Services Library

Maintains displays, collections, and spaces; delivers programs and services within the Adult Services department.

Job Level: 3

Status: Part-Time (16 hours per week)

Classification: Hourly

Reports to: Adult Services Manager

Schedule: Varies; flexible based on business needs, outreach activities, and desk schedule

Pay Range: $15.00+ per hour, DOQ

Responsibilities

1. Provides reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons
2. Creates displays and materials to promote library collections
3. Assists in the planning and delivery of adult programs and outreach activities
4. Makes recommendations for materials based on patron feedback and industry print/electronic resources
5. Provides 1:1 and group instruction for technology, software applications, and devices
6. Maintains order and cleanliness of department and patron areas
7. Assists with opening and closing procedures and compiling statistical reports
8. Provides instruction for genealogy databases

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree desired
2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications and electronic devices
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual and/or ESL skills a plus

5. Proficient with the operation and basic troubleshooting of desktop computers, laptops, portable projection equipment, and a variety of smartphones and tablets
6. Able to hear, comprehend, and respond to others verbally and in writing
7. Able to drive a car and hold a valid Illinois driver’s license
