Summary:

Abrams seeks an enthusiastic, social media-savvy, creative individual with superior organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a strong interest in digital marketing to join our collaborative, fun and fast-paced Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement team!

The Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement team is dedicated to setting the overall digital, social media, and brand/licensor marketing strategies across the Adult and Children’s lists at Abrams, focusing on both organic and paid consumer-facing initiatives and D2C efforts with a strong focus on conversion. Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement works closely with the Integrated Marketing and School & Library Marketing teams as well as Publicity to ensure campaign promotions are coordinated, focused, and sales-driving.

As the Senior Marketing Manager, Social Media & Consumer Engagement, you will set the strategy for both organic and paid social media marketing campaigns across all Abrams imprints, while growing our presence across the major social media platforms, and maximizing engagement among fellow book enthusiasts to further drive conversion. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for someone who feels invigorated by the constantly changing social media algorithms, can think both creatively and analytically, and has a proven track record of determining ROI for campaigns to maximize book sales.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement and includes the management of one direct report.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Associate Director, Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement on implementing a dynamic and sales driving social media strategy across the Adult and Children’s divisions
  • Own the voice of the three Abrams social media handles across the Adult and Children’s divisions (@AbramsBooks; @AbramsKids; @PiqueBeyond), overseeing the strategy, content calendar, development and production of creative for organic social efforts
  • Plan, execute, and optimize paid campaigns across Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, and similar platforms, with an eye towards conversion
  • Analyze, review, and report on campaign performance, using metrics to inform future strategy decisions
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager, Brand Partnerships & Consumer Engagementto leverage new audiences and ensure brand and influencer partnerships align with overall campaign goals
  • Partner with the Integrated Marketing team on execution of promotions at a targeted list of consumer-facing festivals and cons
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify consumer and social trends, keeping an eye on new, emerging platforms to further develop innovative strategies for social media marketing campaigns
  • Assist in developing best practices and guidelines, and consult with creators on their own social media efforts and strategies to build engagement
  • Represent campaigns, strategy, and other opportunities in meetings and updates to internal and external stakeholders, including editors, publishers, sales teams, agents, and authors
  • Assist the Associate Director of Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement with the management of department operations, budget forecasting, and setting overall digital marketing strategy
  • Manage the Marketing Assistant, Digital Strategy & Consumer Engagement, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in digital marketing and social media management, preferably within the publishing industry; 2-3 years direct management experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, and Pinterest, including community management experience
  • Proven ability to execute and analyze paid social media campaigns
  • Demonstrated track record of responding to trends and engaging moments on various social platforms, developing dynamic visual content, and growing engaged audiences
  • Deep understanding of social media analytics, scheduling and listening tools, including Meta Business Suite; experience using Meltwater a plus
  • Detail-oriented project manager with strong time management and organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Open-minded, proactive self-starter who can work well independently yet flourishes in a collaborative environment
  • Easily builds and maintains relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and at different management levels
  • Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, a plus
  • Ability to travel to at approximately 2-3 conferences per year to represent Abrams

This role is based in New York, NY with a 3-day-per-week in office, hybrid work schedule.
