This is a fully remote position and does not require you to move or relocate before hire.
- Currently seeking contractors to work 1-3 day turnaround and 1.5-2 audio hours per day.
Position Overview: The successful candidate will have the ability to transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions accurately from audio recordings, maintaining a strict verbatim format. Proficiency in identifying speakers and knowledge of QA, Colloquy, and court formatting rules is essential. Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus! AAERT certification receives premier consideration! Applicants will be required to complete a skills assessment test. This is a contract position with compensation paid at a per-page rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audio Transcription: Transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with precision. Accurately identify speakers and capture all spoken content in verbatim format.
- Quality Assurance: Apply quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court formatting rules. Familiarity with QA processes to maintain high transcription standards.
- Colloquy Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding of legal terminologies, colloquy, and court-specific language.
- Time Management: Manage 1-3 day turnaround times, allowing a minimum of 1 day per 1 hour of assigned audio. Meet deadlines consistently while maintaining accuracy.
- Verbatim Transcription Experience: Proven experience in transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions with adherence to court formatting rules. Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus!
- AAERT certification: Applicants will have premier consideration for the position.
- Q&A and Colloquy Knowledge: Ability to distinguish and format Q&A and colloquy format.
- Software Proficiency: Competence in using transcription software and Microsoft Office.
- Skills Assessment: Willingness to undergo a skills assessment test to evaluate abilities.
- Availability: Able to transcribe a minimum of 1.5-2 hours of audio per day.
- Operating System: Windows 10 or 11.
- Software: Office 365, For the Record (transcription software), Express Scribe (transcription software).
- Internet Connection: Strong and reliable internet connection for seamless communication.
- Transcription Pedal: A transcription foot pedal for hands-free control of audio playback during the transcription process.
- Transcription Headphones: High-quality transcription headphones for clear and accurate listening to audio recordings.
Pay per page: Starting at $1.25.
