Library Clerk

Part-Time

Albizu University

Miami Campus

Albizu University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Library Clerk to join our team at the Miami Campus. The Library Clerk will perform routine clerical duties, provide essential support services, and assist library patrons in the circulation of materials. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in utilizing an automated library system for circulation and technical services.


Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and enforce all library policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain library accounts for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Issue school ID cards for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Check materials in and out from the circulating collection to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Place and manage reserves for students both over the phone and in person.
  • Renew materials for patrons via phone and in person.
  • Answer directional questions and refer patrons to the reference librarian for research-related inquiries.
  • Transfer phone calls to voicemail or take messages as needed.
  • Collect fines for overdue materials and update patron records accordingly.
  • Perform regular shelf reading and maintain organization of library collections, including books, videos, and reference materials.
  • Monitor the library’s security system and respond to alarms when necessary.
  • Add, delete, and modify library materials' information in the automated system.
  • Assist patrons in locating books, audio materials, videos, tests, and other resources.
  • Compile and prepare faculty and alumni publications for library use.
  • Provide clerical assistance as needed, including photocopying, filing, and faxing.
  • Assist students with photocopy machine usage.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the library director.
  • Contribute to the closing procedures of the library.
  • Report directly to the Library Director.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required); higher education preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish, both written and spoken) is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with collaboration tools such as Teams and Zoom.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with diverse groups of patrons.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
