Position Summary:
The Graphic Designer reports to the Associate Director of Creative Services, and will be responsible for graphic design and visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires, enhancing Covenant College's brand image. This position conceptualizes, creates, and produces assets for a variety of marketing materials, focusing on print collateral and digital graphic elements. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of Adobe design software and be skilled in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple internal departments and the marketing team, the graphic designer should be able to take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that connects with the target audience. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing, and be able to find the right style and layout for every project and internal department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Associate Director of Creative Services with graphic design needs.
- Assist in graphic design projects for various departments on campus.
- Provide creative layout and design strategy for various marketing pieces including print /traditional collateral, ads, brochures/flyers, and digital design (email/webpage), and various other projects as needed.
- Assist with project management for creative efforts.
- Assist Associate Director of Creative Services with design layout for VIEW magazine publication.
- Ensure design, visuals, and messaging across all media and campaigns meet brand standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with copywriters on content and layout design needs to elevate the visual storytelling of Covenant College.
- Assist Associate Director of Creative Services with print production, pre-press checks, proofing, etc. with print vendors as needed.
- Manage design workflow and deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide outstanding customer service to the College and its departments and professionally represent College in all business interactions and settings.
- Provide support on and/or lead other projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Communications, and participate in committees and other forums that address the role of marketing at the College.
- Other duties may be assigned as needs arise.

- Ability to thoughtfully present and explain creative ideas to non-designers.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's or associate degree in graphic design or related field.
- 3-4 years of experience working in related fields.
- Highly creative with extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Solid understanding of typography, color, line, composition and design.
- Skilled in visually communicating complex ideas and processes.
- Knowledge of advertising and marketing design best practices.
- Ability to manage production of projects with outside vendors.
- Proficiency with Google Drive, iOS, Microsoft, and other office software.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Prior work with a liberal arts college/university is preferred.
- Familiarity with photography, videography and video editing is a plus.
- Additional experience with infographic or graphic animation is a plus.

Physical Work Environment:
- This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, filing systems and other job-related technology.
- There is a mix of standing and sitting for this role, however approximately 50% of the in-office work day is spent in a stationary position.
- Classified as light, occasional lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs.
- Generally, college hours of operation for full-time staff are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Travel may be required occasionally, primarily for training or professional advancement.
