Currently announcing a vacancy for an associate director for video production.

Job Summary

Directly responsible to the Director of the Communications Division for all aspects of the development, production, editing and distribution of audiovisual projects, including videos, slideshows, animation, and other audiovisual content, as may be required by the Association.

Essential Functions

Production

- Produce original video for online and in-person use. Responsible for all creative and technical aspects of NJEA video and other audiovisual productions, including planning, design and content, scripting, recruiting guests, conducting pre-interviews, capturing sound and video, supervising video crews as needed, editing, sharing finished products and working with event audiovisual vendors as assigned.

Project administration

- Responsible for scheduling programs, locations and guests both in NJEA Headquarters and for on-location shoots, including, but not limited to, in school buildings and at the NJEA Convention. Obtains all necessary approvals and releases from school districts, school administrators, local leaders, members, students and NJEA staff. Maintains all records of releases and other relevant documentation.

Social media

- In conjunction with Communications Division colleagues responsible for NJEA's social media presence, capture, edit and produce videos, animations and other audiovisual content appropriate to currently utilized social media and online communication platforms.

Pride in Public Education

- In conjunction with Communications Division colleagues responsible for NJEA's Pride in Public Education initiative, capture, edit and produce videos, animations and other audiovisual content as needed for effective public messaging.

Events and conferences

- Provide content and technical audiovisual support for NJEA events and conferences, including on-site support as assigned by the Director of Communications. Includes recording video at conferences and events, as well as coordinating with internal and/or external audiovisual staff to ensure delivery of content.

Training

- Develop and conduct training programs covering the production and effective use of video, animations and other audiovisual content for leaders, members and staff.

Photography

- Take and/or secure photos for use in Association publications, slide presentations, video productions, and for external use.

General assistance

- Aid as requested with other activities of the Association's Communications Division and with general assignments common to all Association staff members.

Qualifications

A candidate will have extensive experience in all aspects of the production of video and other audiovisual materials. A candidate will possess a high degree of intelligence and imagination; will be a good writer and speaker able to transfer complex ideas into simple, direct prose and visuals; will have training and experience in video production; will have demonstrated ability for scripting, editing, directing, and producing video and other audiovisual programming; will be familiar with the organization and operation of public schools as well as with the attitudes of school staffs and the activities of their representative organizations.

Training and Experience

Professional training and experience in all aspects of video production is necessary. Specific experience in producing, directing, and editing video productions is desirable. Interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of individuals are important.
