Under the general supervision of the Digital Engagement Manager, this position creates, develops and produces high quality, innovative video content for distribution across all City platforms including cable television (OLYTV3), web/video-on-demand streaming, and social media channels. Projects will include studio and field productions, episodic programming, public service announcements, documentaries, interviews and training videos.This is a five year project funded position and will end when project funds are spent.Ideal Candidate ProfileStrong experience and expertise in video production and visual storytelling.Experience developing complex video projects from inception to final delivery.Ability to take creative direction from a variety of sources to achieve a defined vision.Expertise in the use of a variety of editing/post-production programs and tools, including animation and motion graphics software.Ability to think both creatively and strategically.Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to high quality standards.To ApplyPlease submit a portfolio or links to recent video production work.Open Continuous. Produces and directs a wide variety of live and taped projects including studio and field productions, episodic programming, public service announcements, documentaries, interviews and training videos.2. Performs all phases of video production including project development, script research and writing, producing/directing, videography and post-production.3. Works creatively to ensure all content is of the highest production value.4. Creates, develops and pitches original ideas for potential programming, both individually and working with staff throughout the City.5.Assists with the broadcast of live public meetings for the Olympia City Council by operating video cameras, switchers and graphics, including full set up, broadcast monitoring and breakdown of meeting.6.Maintains production database, media archive and accurate records of all work performed.7.Evaluates emerging audio, video and broadcast technology trends, policies, practices, and tools. Makes recommendations to improve and increase quality and effectiveness.8. Builds and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners/stakeholders.9. Follows City and public safety guidelines and protocols and performs job functions in a safe manner; reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures.10. Punctual, regular and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance.TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge/Skills/Abilities1. Expertise in the operation of audio and video equipment used in all aspects of production, including maintenance and minor repairs.6. Expertise in exporting projects in a variety of formats for specific distribution channels.7. Experience in studio and field production environments.8. Ability to think both creatively and strategically.9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.10. Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.11. Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to high quality standards.12. Quick and enthusiastic learner.13. High school diploma or GED and two (5) years audiovisual production experience;2. OR associate degree in video engineering, television production, film production or a related field;3.
