The Library Associate supports the central mission to acquire, preserve, and make accessible the collections of the Latin American Library (LAL). This position participates in all phases of processing the LAL's special collections, including registering, preserving, arranging, describing, cataloging, reproduction. The Library Associate supports LAL collection development initiatives. This position works with the public and provides administrative assistance for day-to-day activities of the Latin American Library and its staff.
•Excellent oral and written command of Spanish and English.
•Must have academic training or personal experience working or studying in Latin America.
•Ability to meet Level II Core Technology Competencies as defined here: https://library.tulane.edu/sites/library.tulane.edu/files/documents/core_technology_competencies.pdf
•Must have a valid U.S. driver's license and meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle policy criteria to become authorized as a driver.
•Ability to shelve library materials down low and overhead, with or without reasonable accommodation and push loaded book trucks, up to 40 pounds.
•Ability to work with potentially dusty and/or moldy (not black mold) materials with or without reasonable accommodation.
•Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of relevant experience.
OR
•High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 7 years of relevant experience.
•Experience working in libraries, special collections, or archives.
