Position Information

Working Title: Electronic Resources Librarian

Brief Position Overview:

The Electronic Resources Librarian provides leadership in the acquisition, evaluation, management, and promotion of a wide range of scholarly electronic resources including databases, journal packages, streaming video, and ebooks. Responsibilities include integrating the electronic resources, where appropriate, with the link resolver and discovery layer; resolving access problems for electronic content; and training other staff members in resolving problems as appropriate.

Compensation: Salary range of $49,500 to $51,145 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Electronic Resources:

  • Acquire and manage resources including databases, journals, ebooks, and streaming video.
  • Facilitate access and manage usability and problem resolution.
  • Maintain electronic resources in library management systems.
  • Evaluate and create analytics reports to support data-driven decisions.
  • Negotiate with vendors and publishers.

General:

  • Provide reference services in person and via technology.
  • Provide instruction to students and faculty.
  • Work with colleges/departments to support instruction and research.
  • Participate in collection management activities.
  • Promote Open Educational Resources (OER).
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Serve on university committees.
  • Contribute to securing additional resources through grants.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires sufficient mobility to work in a library setting, operate office equipment, and lift at least 40 lbs.

Required Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program

Experience Required:

  • Related library experience in an academic setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic resources management.
  • Experience with Library Management Systems and software.
  • Experience providing instruction in an academic library.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based setting.
  • Experience fostering a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of academic or research library experience.
  • Experience with library-related software.
  • Recent experience cataloging electronic resources.
  • Experience working with vendors.
  • Experience in a library consortium.
  • Knowledge of copyright and scholarly communication practices.

The Successful Candidate Will

This position has no supervisory duties.
