Principal Communications Specialist
will be responsible for researching, writing, designing, and producing multimedia content that advances our reputation as the worldwide leader in spine and cranial surgery. This high-impact, dynamic, and collaborative role will lead content strategy and craft compelling narratives to drive business initiatives and grow engagement with both internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate must have exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, be well-versed in content management and editorial calendar planning, and have a deep understanding of how content should be optimized across different communication channels including traditional and digital media. We are looking for a communicator with a positive attitude and a passion for storytelling. A successful candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Research, write, design, and produce engaging multimedia content for various mediums including print, video, digital, social, marketing, and public relations. Manage communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's reputation to both internal and external audiences. Collaborate cross-functionally to develop, manage, and execute an integrated editorial calendar. Leverage tools like Sharepoint, Eloqua, and graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to craft platform-specific content. Oversee and execute the writing, editing, and approval of event scripts, speeches, promotional materials, and other communications vehicles. Evaluate the efficacy of communications in advancing business priorities and engaging stakeholders by analyzing data and summarizing insights. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Must Have: Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, content management, digital marketing, or public relations, or an Advanced degree with 5 years of experience. Nice to Have Excellent writing, editing, and creative skills. Strong understanding of content differentiation across platforms. Strong project management skills; ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders. An appetite for learning and experimenting with new communication platforms. Creative problem-solving skills and solid business acumen. Technical design skills including graphic design and video editing. Experience working directly with senior leaders. Entrepreneurial thinking to recommend new program ideas. Experience partnering to lead through influence and guide outside vendors. Benefits & Compensation Medtronic offers a competitive Salary and flexible Benefits Package Salary ranges for U.S. locations (USD): $108,000.00 - $162,000.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The following benefits are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and more.
