Job description

Bridge the City is seeking a motivated and creative Producer to support the development and production of our media projects. The Producer will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of podcast episodes and other multimedia content. This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and driving positive change in Milwaukee. This is a part-time, unpaid position.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Development:

  1. Collaborate with the team to plan, research, and develop episode concepts and themes.
  2. Identify and book guests, including community leaders, activists, and subject-matter experts.
  3. Create episode scripts, outlines, and production plans.

Production Management:

  1. Oversee and lead recording sessions, ensuring high-quality audio and content delivery.
  2. Coordinate editing and post-production, ensuring timely release schedules.
  3. Implement creative strategies to enhance the storytelling and listener experience.

Social Media & Promotion:

  1. Promote episodes and projects through social media platforms.
  2. Create engaging social media content related to the episodes, including graphics, posts, and short video/audio clips.

Community Engagement:

  1. Develop content that aligns with Bridge the City’s mission of fostering activism and community improvement.
  2. Engage with listeners, soliciting feedback and incorporating their input into future programming.
  3. Represent Bridge the City at local events and community initiatives.

Operational Support:

  1. Manage production timelines and resources.
  2. Stay informed about local issues and trends to ensure relevance and impact.

Qualifications:

  1. Willingness to learn new skills (all below qualifications are optional/preferred)
  2. Experience in audio production, podcasting, journalism, or a related field.
  3. Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, X, Facebook) and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  4. Strong organizational and project management skills.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  6. Passion for civic engagement and improving the Milwaukee community.
  7. Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity) is a plus.
  8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
