User Experience Designer (Remote)
Our client, one of the world's leading Chemical Societies & Scientific Non-Profits, is looking to add a
UX Designer
to their team on a
remote
schedule. Candidates are required to be legally authorized to work in the United States without a sponsoring employer indefinitely. At this time, we can only accept the following: US Citizens, Green Card Holders, and GC EADs. Although this is a remote role, candidates must currently reside within the continental United States. All work must be done within the Continental United States.
Team Overview Our client's Communications Division is dedicated to providing news, company information, and insights into the vital role of chemical professionals and the chemical sciences in addressing global challenges and enhancing everyday life. The Division's strategic objectives align with our client's vision, mission, and values, ensuring responsiveness to the evolving needs of the chemical enterprise. The Digital Product & Experience Strategy Team supports these efforts by improving user and customer interactions and delivering value across all digital channels within the world of chemistry.
Position Summary The UX Team is seeking an energetic and skilled UX/UI Designer with a passion for delivering data-driven, user-centered design solutions. This mid-to-senior-level role will focus heavily on website and large-scale system design, with some involvement in app design. You will play an integral role in translating business requirements, research findings, and data into actionable strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background, excellent storytelling ability, and experience leading or participating in design sprints, workshops, and design critiques in a collaborative environment. You will uphold and contribute to the design system while collaborating closely with developers, creative PMs, and other team members to ensure a cohesive, consistent user experience.
- Fully Remote (Must currently reside within the Continental United States). All work must be done in the Continental United States. - Rate: Up to $48/hr. Hourly postion.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership : Lead the end-to-end design process and collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, developers, and researchers. Facilitate workshops and design critiques, actively contributing to brainstorming sessions and strategy discussions. UX/UI Design : Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts. Maintain and expand the
design system
to ensure alignment across digital products. Optimize designs based on data insights, usability testing, and A/B testing. Uphold
WCAG 2.2 AA
and
Section 508 compliance
to ensure accessibility standards. Team Collaboration : Collaborate with a team comprising
3 UI front-end developers ,
4 UX/UI designers (2 focused on research) ,
1 dedicated UX researcher , and
2 creative project managers . Work with
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
as the CMS to create components for building pages. Project Involvement : Contribute to initiatives such as enhancements to the
membership experience , with a focus on personalized website experiences. Present designs to stakeholders and articulate the value of your decisions. Growth and Innovation : Advocate for user-centered design principles and proactively introduce new innovations to improve the user experience. Stay organized, manage priorities effectively, and adapt to evolving project needs. Requirements
Experience facilitating workshops and design critiques, actively contributing to brainstorming sessions and strategy discussions. Experience & Portfolio : At least 4 years of UX/UI design experience, including
2+ years working on design systems . Portfolio showcasing
clean, modern, polished designs , including wireframes, design systems, and contributions to past projects. Avoid clutter or unprofessional elements (e.g., Comic Sans).
Technical Skills : Proficiency in Figma (strongly preferred), Sketch, or Adobe XD. Familiarity with
HTML
and
CSS
(coding experience is not required). Knowledge of
WCAG 2.2 AA
and
Section 508 accessibility guidelines . Collaboration & Presentation : Strong presentation skills, capable of articulating design strategy to stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a
highly cross-functional team . Education : Degree in Digital Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or a related field. Contract Details
Initial
1-year contract
