Job Overview:

GD Resources LLC is seeking an experienced Court Reporter to provide transcription services for legal proceedings at the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS). The role includes recording and transcribing sworn verbal testimony for Administrative Investigation Boards (AIBs), Regional Counsel proceedings, and other legal meetings.

Court reporting assignments will be scheduled as needed, sometimes with short notice. Services will be compensated on a per-occurrence basis with a fixed fee structure.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately record, transcribe, and format legal testimony from various proceedings.
  • Provide timely, properly formatted, and indexed transcripts in compliance with legal standards.
  • Ensure transcripts maintain a 98% accuracy rate, minimizing errors in grammar, punctuation, and terminology.
  • Read portions of transcripts during proceedings when requested.
  • Mark and organize exhibits numerically or alphabetically as directed.
  • Handle technical or medical terminology with accuracy.
  • Follow procedural instructions from Administrative Investigation Boards (AIBs) and presiding officials.
  • Ensure transcripts are delivered within 10 business days, with expedited options as needed.
  • Provide notarized depositions and administer oaths as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Certification:
    • Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) from the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), OR
    • Certified Electronic Reporter (CER) from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT) with notary certification.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum one (1) year of professional court reporting experience.
    • Preferred experience with Administrative Investigation Board (AIB) hearings.
  • Skills & Equipment:
    • Proficiency in legal transcription and stenography.
    • Ability to interpret and transcribe complex legal and medical terminology.
    • Must provide own court reporting equipment.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must comply with Federal and VA security protocols (including ID badge procedures).
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Professional demeanor, punctuality, and adherence to legal confidentiality standards.

Work Conditions & Expectations:
  • Work will take place primarily at the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi, MS.
  • Travel to affiliated outpatient clinics (Mobile, Pensacola, Panama City, and Eglin AFB) may be required.
  • Some proceedings may require multi-day attendance with varying daily work hours.
  • Reserved parking may be available but is not guaranteed.
  • Court reporters must maintain a business-like attitude and comply with all VA regulations.

Deliverables & Deadlines:
  • Standard Transcripts: Delivered within 10 calendar days of testimony.
  • Expedited Transcripts: Delivered within 3 business days (as required).
  • Format:
    • Typed in black ink, double-spaced, 60 characters per line.
    • Bound, indexed, and properly formatted per contract requirements.
  • Delivery Method:
    • Original and electronic PDF copy submitted to the designated official.
    • Secure delivery via UPS, FedEx, or certified mail.
