Position Purpose
The Fort Worth ISD seeks a dynamic and highly skilled Communications Coordinator with a strong emphasis on creating compelling visual content and multimedia elements. The selected candidate will enhance the District’s communication efforts through graphic design, branding, and multimedia content development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Design: Conceptualize and design high-quality print, display, digital, and video materials that align with event and project objectives.
  • Content Development: Work collaboratively with colleagues and departments to develop content and collateral that align with communication goals.
  • Branding: Ensure all designed pieces align with the District's visual identity and branding guidelines.
  • Multimedia Production: Produce and edit promotional videos, motion design projects, and photo shoots.
  • Design Leadership: Serve as designer and art director on various internal and external projects, including ads, signage, invitations, promotional materials, outdoor campaigns, mailers, and publications.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with Communication Staff to determine the most effective use of graphics and visual elements to support messaging.
  • Budget Management: Obtain estimates, develop costs, generate requisitions, and monitor purchases associated with special projects and events.
  • Event Support: Perform site inspections and ensure all technical equipment functions correctly to guarantee successful event execution.
  • Event Coordination: Coordinate production and technical aspects (lighting, video, sound, special effects) for each event to enhance the overall experience.
  • Project Planning: Create detailed workflows and assist in developing project plans and timelines for assigned events.
  • Confidentiality: Handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Safety

  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Creativity: Highly creative with an ability to visualize and implement creative designs and settings to enhance customer experiences.
  • Software Knowledge: Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and/or other graphic design applications. Videography and video editing experience in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects preferred.
  • Marketing Knowledge: Knowledge of branding and marketing principles and the ability to effectively convey messages.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with District and external agencies and organizations.
  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience working with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and modify processes accordingly.

  • District Policies: Familiarity with District policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to use software to access databases, email, create spreadsheets, and do word processing.

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in graphic design, broadcast communications, public relations, marketing, hospitality, creative arts, or a related field.
  • Certification/License: None.
  • Experience: 3 years’ experience in multimedia, graphic design, or other relevant communications-related field.
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) working proficiency preferred in some settings.
