Job Description

Supply Chain Dive seeks an experienced reporter to join a dynamic team responsible for covering news and trends affecting end-to-end supply chain management.

As part of your regular duties as a reporter, you will regularly write breaking news briefs, articles, and in-depth features on how retailers and manufacturers respond to supply chain issues. While doing so, you will work closely with a team to build engaging coverage on a range of strategic topics, including supplier relations, demand planning, and logistics management.

You will own an assigned beat by cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and monitoring trends, news and industry developments, as well as pitching original stories. You will also have some regular editing responsibilities. This position reports to the Managing Editor.

What you’ll do:

  • Build an assigned beat
  • Develop source relationships with organizations and analysts relevant to your beat
  • Pitch story ideas and work with editors to refine angles
  • Write an average of 5 items per week, of varying length and depth
  • Identify and support team coverage of key storylines we will own
  • Produce daily and weekly newsletters alongside your team — reporting, writing and editing every day in a collaborative fashion
  • Work as a team player to support Supply Chain Dive's goals

We prefer candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience and appreciation for collaborating as part of a team
  • Source- and beat-building skills
  • Experience reporting on legal, regulatory, financial and/or manufacturing topics
  • Experience mining earnings reports, government documents and public filings for news
  • An understanding of abstract supply chain management concepts and practices
  • An interest in working on innovative storytelling formats or data visualization projects
  • An aptitude for analyzing trends, data and issues for business leaders
  • B2B writing experience
  • Familiarity with editing and AP style

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in business reporting
  • A proven track record of strong writing and reporting skills
  • Familiarity with business journalism and ability to interpret business concepts
  • Experience connecting dots between business concepts, industry practices, and major news stories to highlight larger trends
  • Ability to build relationships with important sources and report on complex subjects
  • Experience pitching to and working collaboratively with an editor
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, daily news environment
  • Deadline-oriented time management skills; ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines

Additional Information

The salary range for the role is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 USD depending on experience.
