Director of Subscription Marketing

Responsibilities

Grow audiences for newsletters and lead overall paywall strategy. Set and monitor growth and retention goals aligned with company objectives and develop and oversee the budget for marketing and subscriber initiatives. Optimize the user journey from anonymous visitors to registered users and ultimately paid subscribers. Create and implement strategies to reduce churn and increase lifetime subscriber value. Lead the development and execution of paid marketing campaigns across channels, including social media, search, and display advertising and monitor campaign performance and adjust tactics to maximize ROI. Evaluate and implement pricing models, promotions, and subscription bundling to drive value and growth. Use data insights to analyze subscriber behavior, define key audience segments to tailor messaging, campaigns, and product offerings. Manage the integration of social media and email marketing efforts to support subscriber growth and engagement. Collaborate with editorial, audio, video, and events teams to create cohesive marketing campaigns. Test and iterate on offers to optimize subscriber acquisition and retention. Qualifications

Proven experience driving subscriber growth and retention through multi-channel marketing campaigns. Expertise in digital marketing, audience segmentation, and data-driven decision-making. Strong proficiency in marketing analytics tools, CRM platforms, and subscription management systems. Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and a results-oriented approach. Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to articulate our values and voice across different audiences and channels. Thorough understanding of the independent media and news landscape. Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated and independent. Willingness to embrace a scrappy, start-up environment and jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed. A sense of humor is a plus!
