The

Telecommunications Technician

supports the Telecommunications Supervisor, responsible for all telecommunications systems for the hospital and satellite facilities. This includes phone lines, fax lines, nurse call systems, infant abduction systems, back up phone system, and motion detections systems on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis. The Tech is responsible for moving projects from concept through design and through implementation. The Tech is primary contact point outside of regular business hours. Develops and delegates daily task list to technicians. Performs PM, routine maintenance, emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, moves, adds, changes and formal planning and implementation of new systems. Install cables, system-wiring, punch down blocks and computer changes.

Responsibilities Maintains telecommunication system for hospital and satellite facilities (telephones, voice mail system, Dr. monitoring system, mini-cell system, paging system, nurse call systems, infant and abduction system). Perform preventive, routine maintenance, moves, adds, changes and formal planning and implementation of new systems within the hospital and satellites. Installing cables, system wiring, and punch down blocks, as well as computer changes. Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation. Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions. Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations. Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying correcting, or escalating problems. Establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors and cable trays; establishing connections and integrations, programming features following industry standards. Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications. Enhances department and organization by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred:
