Vermont Grass Farmers Association is a farmer-led, free standing 501(c)3 non‐profit with the mission to promote, manage and oversee grazing outreach and education programs in Vermont.

The VGFA is a network of pasture-based livestock farmers. The organization hosts educational workshops and on-farm learning opportunities for farmers and interested individuals, as well as co-hosting an annual Grazing and Livestock Conference. VGFA also undertakes distinct grant projects that improve the viability of pasture-based livestock production in the northeast.

We use the power of grazing animals to regenerate Vermont’s land.

Vermont Grass Farmers raise livestock in their natural environment in a manner that nourishes their neighbors, provides habitat for wildlife and pollinators, builds healthy soil and keeps our waterways clean.

Scope of Work:

The coordinator will work with the Executive Director to support the organization’s education programming and membership engagement and development. They will develop and implement outreach strategies for the membership, general public, and donors.

Duties/Deliverables:

  • Collaborate with ED to expand the membership benefits and recruitment plan.
  • Manage solicitation, stewardship, and recognition of farmer members via VGFA’s website, direct mail, email and social media.
  • Collaborate with ED and Board to create a media content development strategy that aligns with VGFA’s Vision and Mission.
  • Engage and interact with the VGFA farmer membership to enrich outreach materials and social media with the character of the network’s farmers.
  • Promote and provide outreach about regenerative/adaptive grazing to the general public.
    Execute a digital outreach plan, that includes regular postings to select social media platforms.
  • Broaden VGFA’s outreach, build fan base & conduct outreach to influential media outlets/personalities.
  • Create compelling videos, graphics, and visual content for website, social media, email marketing, and other digital channels.
  • Manage VGFA website content - membership details, resource lists and event content.
  • Support ED in filming/editing and posting videos about the positive impacts of pasture-based livestock production and farmer wisdom related to such production.
  • Assist in planning and implementing farmer and service provider educational and networking events, like pasture walks, on-farm workshops and expert-led programming.
  • Collaborate with ED and other regional organizations to plan and implement regional luminary tour and grazing conference.

Metrics:

The emphasis of the deliverables is to develop Vermont Grass Farmers Associations’ public-facing identity/character and increase engagement on current social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram).

  • Create a presence and following on other appropriate social media platforms (TikTok…)
  • Develop and facilitate social media and website content generation by members and staff, with an emphasis on videos.
  • Assist with the production of 8 two to five-minute videos focused on farmer wisdom sharing around regenerative grazing and Climate Smart Agriculture practices and conservation projects on regional farms.
  • Increase email contacts (member and donor prospects).
  • Increase VGFA YouTube channel viewings of media assets.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with grazing ruminant animals and/or working with pastured monogastric at a production scale.
  • An interest in regenerative agricultural systems, soil health and farm viability.
  • Marketing experience – in person and online.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create relationships with farm members, the general public and donors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and is responsible and reliable.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Drive, Social Media Platforms.
  • Video/film creation experience preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required to fulfill travel duties of the job.

Location:

Hybrid, including office time in Ferrisburgh, VT, Zoom and/or face-to-face meetings with the Executive Director and Board Members, and travel to member farms. Vermont residency is preferred.

Schedule:

This position is full-time. Flexible schedule with some weekend events.

Compensation

This position is hourly, varies DOE, $20.00 - $24.00.
