Job Summary

We are seeking a music instructor to teach students grades 3rd-12th. Candidates should have a degree in music, have extensive musical training or be in college studying music. An ideal candidate is a team player, positive, detail-oriented, has proficient skills in technology, understands music theory, and has experience teaching. The role of the music instructor encompasses a variety of tasks, primarily teaching fundamental principles of music and musicianship skills, such as music theory, technique, basic music notation, and how to apply this knowledge to their instrument. Instructors should be passionate, friendly, and enthusiastic people who enjoy working with youth. Excellent presentation and professionalism are required.


What You Will Do

As a music instructor, you will be a passionate and outgoing individual who will positively impact the community by creating a welcoming environment for our students and families. You will motivate and inspire students to learn by creating an engaging, positive, and productive learning environment while establishing a high level of confidence and program value.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and educate students in an individual and group setting
  • Establish and reinforce performance/technique goals and milestones with students
  • Document and communicate progress
  • Provide constructive feedback for students
  • Create, submit and abide by the program curriculum
  • Use a variety of techniques and materials (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities etc.) to instruct and motivate students
  • Use appropriate classroom management techniques and adhere to LiveSchool initiatives
  • Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations
  • Participate in other duties, sometimes outside contracted hours


Qualifications

  • Education - Music pedagogy classes or education classes at the collegiate level are preferred but not required
  • BS degree in education or relevant license/certificate preferred
  • Must be able to complete required training
  • Must be able to pass a Level II Background Screening
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and latest education theories and practices for music theory and curriculum
  • Patience and flexibility
  • Previous experience in teaching
  • Ability to build rapport with students and parents
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Use effective classroom management techniques to maintain an organized learning environment
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Professional work ethic and a desire to grow
