We are seeking a Restoration Design Manager to enhance the Restoration Design department by leading the design team, implementing innovative engineering concepts, and providing consulting services across diverse projects and clients. This role is grounded in the Mission and Vision of Grindley Williams Engineering (GWE), which emphasizes trust, diversification of services, education, responsiveness, clarity, value, public safety, health, and welfare. The role also entails a commitment to adding value, strength, and beauty to the built environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are key to this role; however, additional tasks may be assigned as needed:
- Plan and execute work with increasing levels of engineering responsibility.
- Serve as Engineer of Record, Project Manager, and Engineer-in-Charge for structural restoration design projects.
- Develop structural plans for both repair and new construction projects.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome design obstacles.
- Organize designs and details to produce comprehensive drawing sets.
- Conduct research and compile due diligence reports, code studies, and engineering opinions.
- Produce engineering reports in alignment with approved formats.
- Manage and nurture existing client relationships while contributing to business development initiatives.
- Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and internal peer reviews of engineering reports and plans.
- Maintain accountability for budget adherence and financial efficiency.
- Participate in hiring, training, and development of department staff.
- Organize and oversee team schedules to optimize talent utilization.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage employee performance in line with company policies.
- Travel in and out of state for work assignments, up to five (5) consecutive business days.
- Comply with GWEs commercial vehicle insurance requirements.
- Prepare project proposals and bids while monitoring budgets to ensure profitability.
- Collaborate with the accounting department for timely and accurate invoicing.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering (Masters degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida and Texas.
- Minimum of 5 years of structural design experience.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoDesk, and structural analysis software such as RISA.
- Experience with Salesforce is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unaided.
- Capable of erecting and climbing ladders and maneuvering within confined spaces.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing may be required.
- Ability to see both near and far, grasp objects, and use personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Proficiency in basic office computing and hardware use.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
