Social Video Producer (Internal Title: Digital Media Producer II)
on our Scientific Publication team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office. As a Social Video Producer, you will create engaging and informative social videos about science and medicine for the JAMA Network, a group of 13 leading peer-reviewed medical journals. This role will be part of a collaborative team that produces a wide range of videos and podcasts. Responsible for the creation of videos for social media platforms and will involve all aspects of video creation, from pitching ideas to shooting to motion graphics. RESPONSIBILITIES: Video production Produce and edit 2-3 videos per week for a variety of social media platforms. Source visuals and create custom visuals by shooting b-roll, stop motion, creating motion graphics, etc. Use existing video templates and generate new on-brand video styles. Provide guidance to and collaborate with other teams to produce social videos. Ensure all videos are appropriately reviewed, approved, tracked, saved, and delivered on time. Manage workflows for assigning scripts to contractors and producing translated social videos. Idea generation, script development, and metrics Work collaboratively with physician editors, fellows, and staff to develop video ideas. Write and edit scripts that will resonate with social audiences. Potentially serve as on-camera host or narrator. Track and report KPIs for social media video. Contribute to evolving social media video strategy.
On-demand videos Assist with in-studio and on-location video shoots. May handle editing, processing, and publication of other video types as needed. Participate in multimedia team meetings, contributing to broader audio and video planning and operations. May include other responsibilities as assigned REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in filmmaking, digital media production, journalism, or similar communication field required. 3+ years video production and editing experience required. Strong background in social video production or related social media expertise required. Experience with educational content required, with science or health subject matter preferred. Strong writing skills required. On-camera experience a plus. Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and After Effects required, with more advanced knowledge of motion graphics a plus. Demonstrated experience with lighting, cameras, and sound recording required. A self-starter who can learn new skills and apply them quickly on an ongoing basis required. Careful attention to editorial detail and ability to accurately perform quality review required. Able to work collaboratively or independently with minimal supervision required. The salary range for this position is $67,320 - $89,250. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
