If you're an English major with a Technical Writing focus, we have an exciting internship opportunity for you. The purpose of an internship at Woodward is to provide students with the opportunity to gain exposure and "real life" business acumen within the Aerospace and Energy Industry.Our internships also provide students with the opportunity to learn and gain practical experience and to work in areas related to their academic and/or career interests.Gain hands-on experience while working on challenging projects, network with professionals and learn from some of the brightest minds in business. The experience also gives the intern opportunity for potential full-time employment with the company. What you will be doing Writing assembly, disassembly, repair, and/or test instructions for aerospace components Experience working in a Technical Publications Team and using Agile/SCRUM methods Receiving editorial feedback on drafts either by other writers within the Technical Publications group and/or engineers Providing technical writing leadership in instruction validation with product hardware and associated tooling/machinery. Collaboration with engineers and repair/development technicians. Writing instructions utilizing ATA iSpec 2200, Simplified Technical English, and Woodward style guides Obtaining familiarity with technical writing tools (i.e. Arbortext, sgml, Woodward document management,...) Introduction to Earned Value Management as a project schedule tool. What We Are Looking For Effective written and verbal communication skills. Competent skills in problem solving and trouble-shooting. Competent in the use of PCs, MS Office Programs and other associated software. Good marks in relevant subjects. Possess high motivation, flexibility and ability to work on his/her own. Extraordinary attention to detail, logic, and organization with a passion for delivering clear, concise, and usable communication to the intended audience. Ability to excel and in both team and independent work situations with an inherently friendly, cheerful and professional demeanor. An enthusiastic and humble contributor that recognizes, respects, and values others. High personal accountability to assume ownership of assigned work and assure timely and effective collaboration with others. Employs creative approaches to barriers and influences situations seeming outside of one's sphere of control. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly with a focus on delivering results Interest in working in the local area or industry, potentially seeking to find eventual employment at Woodward. Abilities to possibly become an ambassador or liaison for Woodward at their university, helping to promote Woodward sponsored activities and career fair engagements. Education or Formal Training Must be at least a junior in an accredited College or University program and have an acceptable grade point average. Experience Required No experience required. Previous internship or other applicable working experience, a plus. This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
