This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage. DEPARTMENT Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility HOURS OF WORK Monday - Friday, hours vary LOCATION 3000 Arctic Boulevard Participates in major emergencies or disasters as outlined in AWWU’s disaster plan matrix, which defines each employee’s potential duties and responsibilities. This may include 12-hour work shifts, which may continue for 72 hours or more starting at any time an event might occur, 7 days a week, 24 hours per day. The AWWU General Manager's duties and responsibilities are to provide guidance and leadership to Utility staff to ensure that the Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utilities are: Operating under prudent business principles; Satisfying customer expectations; Complying with all Federal, Alaska, and Municipal laws and regulations; Responsive to long-term growth needs of the Municipality of Anchorage; Meeting the needs of the utilities' owners. The General Manager directly supervises the AWWU Division Directors and AWWU Assistant General Manager. Additional Information Management and oversight of all aspects of the Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility operations, including: Operating and capital budgets and expenditures; Development of strategy for periodic rate case filings; Establishing levels of service and development of tariff filings; Hiring, supervising, and setting compensation for Division Directors; Ensure compliance with all federal and Alaska laws and regulations regarding water quality, health and safety, and employee requirements; Ensure compliance with the Municipal Charter, Municipal Code, and other Municipal regulations that are applicable; Development of 20-year improvement plans; Coordinate with the AWWU Advisory Board; Serve as the principal spokesperson for the Utility to the Municipal Assembly, the Regulatory Commission of Alaska, and the public. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related discipline,

of which must have been at the supervisory management level in the field of water and wastewater distribution, collection, and treatment systems, or a closely related field. OR Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related discipline,
