Job Title: Music Therapy Clinical Coordinator - Full time - DC (250000E3)

Description: The music therapy clinical coordinator will develop, implement, and evaluate a music therapy program for patients and families. The clinical coordinator is responsible for initiating and supporting work efforts that maximize quality, safety, and services. Foster positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community representatives, and visitors. Effectively use interpersonal communication skills to promote a healing environment. Coordinators will be responsible for clinical supervision and support of music therapy staff and will assist departmental leadership with supervisory responsibilities, representing music therapy practice at an organizational level.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience:
6 years of clinical experience in a complex medical setting or similar, supervisory experience (Required)

- Advanced interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with diverse individuals
- Ability to apply in-depth professional knowledge within the medical field
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
- Adaptability to change and promoting diversity and inclusion

Required Licenses and Certifications:
Licenses and certifications based on discipline or clinical background (Required)

Functional Accountabilities:

  • Work with patients, families, and staff to understand the needs of the assigned inpatient and outpatient population.
  • Meet with patients and families to explain the music therapy program.
  • Assess needs and identify goals based on assessments.
  • Develop and evaluate music therapy interventions.
  • Document interventions in patient medical records according to standards.
  • Maintain an appropriate selection of supplies and equipment for the program.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide optimal care.
  • Maintain communication with team members to coordinate care.

Program Development & Promotion:

  • Provide clinical supervision to students/interns and new staff.
  • Present in-service trainings on music therapy.
  • Manage resources and evaluate the effectiveness of the program.

Professional Development:

  • Establish annual goals and work towards achieving them.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

Daily Operations:

  • Create a climate that stimulates professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Supervisory and Leadership Skills:

  • Provide clinical supervision to music therapists.
  • Participate in recruitment and selection processes.

Organizational Accountabilities:

  • Anticipate and respond to customer needs.
  • Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior.
