Job Title: Music Therapy Clinical Coordinator

Location: District of Columbia - Washington

Position Status: Regular - Full-Time

Shift: Day

Work Schedule: 9am-5:30pm

Salary Range: $57,200 - $95,347.20

Description

The Music Therapy Clinical Coordinator will develop, implement, and evaluate a music therapy program for patients and families. The clinical coordinator is responsible for initiating and supporting work efforts that maximize quality, safety, and services. Foster positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community representatives, and visitors. Effectively use interpersonal communication skills to promote a healing environment. The coordinator will be responsible for clinical supervision and support of music therapy staff, assisting departmental leadership with supervisory responsibilities, and representing music therapy practice at an organizational level.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience:
At least 6 years of clinical experience in a complex medical setting or similar, supervisory experience (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge:
Advanced interpersonal skills, ability to apply in-depth professional knowledge, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrated leadership skills.

Functional Accountabilities

Direct Patient Care

  • Work with patients, families, and staff to understand the needs related to the music therapy program.
  • Meet with patients and families to explain the music therapy program and invite participation.
  • Assess individual and/or group needs and identify goals based on assessment.
  • Develop plans for music therapy interventions for individuals and groups.
  • Timely documentation of interventions in patient medical records.
  • Maintain an appropriate and safe selection of supplies for the program.
  • Participate in the weekday, weekend, and on-call rotation as assigned.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide optimal care.
  • Maintain communication with team members to coordinate care.
  • Provide referrals to internal or community resources for patients and families.

Program Development & Promotion

  • Provide clinical supervision to students/interns and new staff.
  • Manage resources and ensure a consistent supply for the music therapy team.
  • Participate in research projects related to music therapy activities.

Professional Development

  • Establish annual goals with the Manager/Director.
  • Participate in committees as deemed appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain professional skills by attending relevant events.

Daily Operations

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Participate in monthly leadership meetings.
  • Coordinate the ordering and securing of supplies and equipment.

Supervisory and Leadership Skills

  • Provide clinical supervision to music therapists as assigned.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process for new hires.
  • Participate in hospital work groups to represent music therapy practice.

Organizational Accountabilities
