Schneider Electric is seeking a design professional with expertise in user experience for complex enterprise software. This individual will report to the Head of Design for Schneider's Digital Energy group and be responsible for leading the experience of a key strategic software initiative. The team is fast growing and want to do so healthily. Our mission oversees digital design across Schneider Electric, infuses design culture into the company, and scales these efforts through systems and collaboration. We create consistent, enjoyable, and memorable experiences with meaningful outcomes around sustainability, decarbonization, and optimizing the switch renewable energy. This is design work with a purpose.
This role will be responsible for leading start to finish design efforts on a program that aligns Schneider Electric's power and buildings domains. This multi-year and highly strategic effort requires a seasoned designer's skills to collaborate with product leaders and technical teams to envision, form, and communicate the desired user experience. This designer will take a Lead position in & amongst other designers on the team. You will wear the captain's armband and be ultimately responsible for maintaining a cohesive design direction and arbitrating decisions that impact the user's experience. Successful candidates will have experience representing design within similar team structures to discover unmet user needs, craft and test experience concepts, and align into development details. They will be familiar with the use of corporate design systems to quickly design interfaces that are consistent and on-brand, while knowing when and how to extend components and contribute to the ecosystem's health. Schneider Electric's customers operate in complex industrial spaces which necessitates a humble and curious attitude and a willingness to learn from experts in the energy domain. At the same time, the design team is defining our digital industrial future which requires skills in concept creation, story telling, and iterative creativity.
Your mission:
User-centered design. Apply different tools and methodologies required for the problem, timing, and context. Be transparent and mentor colleagues across stages of the design process.
Facilitation and co-design. Prepare and lead workshops to align teams and converge on a common product and service vision. Include others and motivate with curiosity, a constant interest to learn, and default to doing.
Culture and advocacy. Be a representative of design and user advocate within Schneider Electric. Promote our digital ecosystem, strengthen the brand, and form a unified experience.
Systems thinking. Expand and adjust perspectives to understand the problem space. Empathize with users and colleagues and appreciate a diversity of inputs. Find cohesion across areas of business for our users.
Data driven. Know how to use and analyze qualitative and quantitative data in decision making. Design interactions that empower users with information and collect data as a natural part of the experience.
This job is for you:
- >10 years of experience as a designer
- Bachelor's degree in a design field, human-computer interaction, fine arts, or equivalent experience.
- Examples of regular collaboration across business functions.
- Strong portfolio that demonstrates user-centered design approach & process, systems thinking, emphatic storytelling, and delivered product with user & business insights.
- Exceptional abilities to communicate complex information in written, visual, and verbal forms.
- Experience contributing to design research plans, executing, synthesizing, and communicating findings.
- Customer-facing experience facilitating discovery workshops with subject matter experts and business leaders.
- Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity, ill-defined problem spaces, and highly complex domains & organizations.
- Fluent written and spoken English.

- Master's degree in human-computer interaction, psychology, design strategy.
- Experience working with enterprise or industrial software products.
- Familiarity with Figma & Figjam, Dovetail, Maze design tools.
- Experience working with and applying enterprise design systems.
- Documenting best practices, building design playbooks, and mentoring others.
- Engagement in design communities and building design culture.
