Church of the Holy Spirit is hiring: Director of Music/Organist in North Brunswi

Our Lady of Peace Parish in North Brunswick, NJ is seeking a part time (10-12 hours per week) Director of Music/Organist beginning June 15, 2025.

The 1,100 family multi-ethnic parish enjoys a tradition of music ranging from Gregorian Chant to contemporary music, as well as fine organ and choral music.

The position includes playing for two Sunday morning Masses (8:30 with cantor, 11:00 with Adult Choir), overseeing direction of the contemporary ensemble responsible for the 5:00 PM Saturday vigil Mass; selecting hymns and service music in consultation with the pastor (who is also an organist) for Sunday Masses and special services throughout the year , and providing music for Masses on holy days, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Day, as well as sacramental Masses (First Communion and Confirmation) and occasional Sunday Vesper services (3-4 times each year.)

The successful candidate has exceptional skills in accompanying congregational and choral singing, directing choirs and instrumentalists from the console, as well as performing the classic organ literature.

Additional opportunities include performing as organist/cantor for weddings and funerals , with stipend provided by the funeral home or wedding party (average 5-7 weddings, 20 funerals per year.) A working knowledge and experience with the Roman Catholic liturgy is essential. The parish uses Ritual Song II (2016) as its primary musical resource. The acoustically live church houses a 3/58 Allen G350 organ installed in 2019 and a smaller 2/29 Allen in the chapel.
