Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr

Appaman is looking for a passionate junior designer to help in the development of the Boys and Girls seasonal collections. This person will work directly with the Design Director and Girl's Designer in everything from trend research to development and production. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to learn every aspect of the design process, while also getting to work on a variety of categories from knits, wovens to outerwear and fine tailoring.

Responsibilities

  1. Research ideas and inspiration for new seasons and stay up to date on new trends.
  2. Assist in approving lab-dips, strike offs, measuring and checking samples, etc.
  3. Create CADs for new styles and update existing CADs.
  4. Develop new tech packs and update old tech packs.
  5. Adjust technical specs when needed.
  6. Communicate daily with overseas counterparts in development and production.
  7. Knowledge and experience in creating graphics for apparel is a plus.
  8. Help in merchandising for photo shoots and preparing for photo shoots.
  9. Help in laying out seasonal catalog.

Qualifications

  1. 2-5 years of experience as an Assistant or Associate Fashion Designer.
  2. Strong attention to detail.
  3. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  4. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Excel.
  5. Experience in designing for kids.
  6. Ability to develop graphics is a plus.
  7. Bachelor Degree in Design, preferred.
  8. Proficient in flat sketching.
  9. Working knowledge of pattern making and garment construction.
  10. General understanding of basic fabric constructions.
  11. Strong verbal and written communication and follow-up skills.
  12. Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
