As a Senior UX Designer, you will play a key role in creating user-friendly, visually engaging, and highly functional software interfaces tailored for first responders, law enforcement, and other public safety professionals. You’ll work closely with product managers, developers, and end-users to transform insights into exceptional digital experiences that optimize workflows and enhance situational awareness.

Location: Salt Lake City, UT / Mesa, AZ (This is a hybrid role.)

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

User Research & Experience Strategy:

  1. Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews to gain deep insights into real-world challenges and user needs.
  2. Collaborate with product managers and subject matter experts to define user personas, journeys, and workflows for mission-critical software.

UI/UX Design & Prototyping:

  1. Develop wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that bring concepts to life.
  2. Design intuitive navigation flows and user interfaces optimized for usability, efficiency, and accessibility in high-stakes environments.
  3. Apply best practices in information architecture and interaction design to maintain consistency across applications.

Accessibility & Inclusivity Leadership:

  1. Lead the internal accessibility program, ensuring compliance with WCAG and other usability standards.
  2. Establish accessibility best practices and collaborate with development teams to enhance inclusivity for all users.
  3. Partner with software developers, product managers, and QA engineers to bring designs from concept to production.
  4. Iterate on design solutions based on user testing, feedback, and real-world application.
  5. Advocate for user-centered design principles and contribute to a culture of continuous innovation.

Design System & Standards Development:

  1. Establish and maintain design guidelines, UI standards, and reusable components for scalable public safety applications.
  2. Document specifications and best practices to ensure cross-platform consistency.
  3. Other duties as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Experience & Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of UI/UX design experience, preferably working with complex, data-driven systems or public safety software.

Technical Skills:

  1. Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar design tools.
  2. Strong understanding of user-centered design methodologies, usability testing, and accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508, etc.).
  3. Experience leading or contributing to internal accessibility programs.
  4. Ability to collaborate in Agile development environments, delivering designs in iterative release cycles.
