Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications. This role requires experience with CAD software, hydraulic calculations, and a strong understanding of fire protection principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and layout fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or industry-specific software (HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, etc.)
Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare detailed design plans, including pipe layouts, sprinkler head placements, and system components
Ensure compliance with NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, IBC, and other relevant codes
Work closely with engineers, architects, contractors, and project managers to develop and refine system designs
Review architectural and mechanical drawings to coordinate fire protection layouts with other building systems
Prepare material lists, fabrication lists, and system schematics for field installation
Assist with permit submittals and approvals from AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction)
Provide technical support to field personnel during installation and troubleshooting
Participate in project meetings and site visits as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
Required: Experience in fire sprinkler system design (minimum 2-5 years)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, HydraCALC, or HydraLIST
Knowledge of hydraulic calculations and fire protection principles
Familiarity with NFPA codes, local building codes, and industry standards
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints
Communication skills for collaborating with teams and clients
Preferred: NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (Level I, II, III, or IV)
Preferred: Experience with BIM coordination and 3D modeling
Education & Certifications:
NICET Certification (or willingness to obtain)
OSHA safety training is a plus
