Pay Details

The Kennedy Center strives to design equitable compensation programs. The projected salary range for this position is $77,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This is the targeted range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience as it relates to the position qualifications and responsibilities.

Job Description

The Marketing Manager for Theater and Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences (KCTYA) is responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing strategies that maximize revenue and audience engagement for these programs. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position plays a critical role in crafting and implementing strategic marketing plans, including pricing strategies and promotional campaigns, to achieve revenue and attendance goals as well as marketing efficiencies. The Theater season includes more than 250 performances annually, featuring a robust lineup of touring Broadway productions and the Center's own acclaimed Broadway Center Stage series. The Marketing Manager collaborates closely with the marketing CRM team to encourage repeat attendance and cross-genre engagement. Additionally, this role incorporates digital marketing and social media strategies to enhance campaign reach and audience engagement across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Revenue Optimization
  • Lead the development, execution, and oversight of marketing strategies for Theater and KCTYA programs, including planning, data analysis, reporting, and campaign distribution.
  • Create dynamic pricing and discount strategies to optimize ticket sales and maximize revenue.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive season planning documents, detailed revenue projections, and strategic plans for assigned programs.

Collaboration & Coordination
  • Serve as the primary liaison between internal staff and external representatives, including commercial theater tour representatives, to ensure alignment and seamless coordination of marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with the marketing CRM team to leverage audience insights and segmentation strategies for targeted campaigns.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate marketing initiatives that enhance audience engagement and support institutional goals.

Team Supervision & Administrative Support
  • Supervise the Marketing Coordinator, ensuring effective support for Theater and KCTYA marketing initiatives and broader Marketing Strategy team projects.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for the Marketing Coordinator.

Data Management & Reporting
  • Build and maintain email and telemarketing lists in Tessitura to support targeted campaigns.
  • Regularly analyze campaign performance, generate reports, and provide actionable recommendations for improving audience engagement and revenue outcomes.

Other Duties as Assigned

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; must have at least three years professional experience in sales, marketing or performing arts management. Theater marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience in developing and execution revenue generating marketing campaigns
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment. In addition, the candidate must possess strong analytical skills and assertive and effective interpersonal communication. The person must maintain a high level of productivity and have increased attention to detail. He/she/they must also possess advance capabilities with standard personal computing programs. A working knowledge of CRM systems, Tessitura preferred.
