Ongoing Contract - 1+ year - potential contract to hire

Work from home to start and then will be onsite on the eastside of Cincinnati

  • Familiar with XML writing environment, using Arbortext software.
  • Good understanding of Mil-Std-40051-2C and D.
  • Understanding on how to develop troubleshooting steps and solutions.
  • Experience with creating training courses that are used with the technical manual.


Writes, develops and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively comprehensive technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Supports the quality control of authored documents for technical accuracy and compliance to both commercial and military standards.

• Responsible for all phases of document generation (i.e., researching, writing, customer verification, incorporating verification updates, and delivery via CM software)
• Writes and updates various OEM product equipment technical publications, technical bulletins, in both MIL-STD and Commercial-Off The-Shelf (COTS) formats for operator through maintainer level manuals, to include supporting technical manual validations and verifications.
• Creates service bulletins, work instructions, and overseas the updates to legacy equipment technical publications as needed.
• Acquires experience as subject matter expert with knowledge gained by interviewing product developers, engineers, logisticians, 3-D model animators, production personnel, and field technicians, and observing performance of system maintenance throughout life cycle.
• Researches technical specifications, related program documents, engineering drawings, 3-D animations/job aids, and maintenance videos.
• Responsible for coordinating equipment photo shoots with on-staff photographer or for acquiring/creating required original illustrations for technical publications.
• Focuses on the end-user needs to effectively and safely perform his/her job, while protecting personnel and equipment from potential harm and/or damage while ensuring equipment operational requirements are incorporated into technical publications.
• Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the Playbook and team mission, values and culture
• Adheres to, and enforce all quality and safety standards
• Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
• Available for limited travel to support functions

• Possesses excellent working skills and knowledge using Abortext XML Editor or similar software
• Experience with Visio, AutoCAD, Solidworks, 3-D Modeling, and/or S1000D are a plus
• Must be familiar with Solidworks PDM, or similar document upload/retrieval program
