About the Role
We are on the hunt for a dress-obsessed Technical Designer working a hybrid schedule at Ivy City’s HQ in Riverton, UT! (Potential relocation assistance available.) With 5+ years' experience in technical design, our Technical Designer has the foundational knowledge to hit the ground running. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment and have an exceptional eye for organization and detail.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the design and production teams to understand and interpret design concepts.
- Work with multiple product categories (dresses, tops, pants, skirts, outerwear, sweaters, swim, lounge wear) for Women, Children, and Baby departments.
- Manage clear daily communication with all necessary cross functional teams and vendors.
- Evaluate and spec samples to determine compliance of measurement, construction and overall quality.
- Conduct thorough fit sessions on live models and/or dress forms, identifying fit issues and providing actionable solutions to achieve desired fit and aesthetic.
- Provide clear and concise feedback to internal and external stakeholders to drive timely and effective problem-solving.
- Illustrate pattern corrections and style comments with Photoshop or Illustrator to communicate accurate and precise corrections to vendors.
- Adhere to the calendar and ensure deadlines are met.
- Oversee all Fit and TOP samples.
- Develop and execute accurate and comprehensive technical packages, including detailed garment specifications, measurement charts, and construction guidelines.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually improve garment construction techniques and fit quality.
Qualifications
- Degree in Apparel Technical Design
- 5+ years' experience in Apparel Technical Design with a proven track record of successful product development and fit execution.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers and factories, with knowledge of production timelines and processes.
- Strong understanding of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics
- Strong knowledge of grading and ability to issue graded specs.
- Knowledge of Children’s apparel safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Works well individually, as well as, with a team
- Flexible and excited by a very fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
