Title: Head of Artist Relations (Roc Nation Distribution)
Location: New York, NY (Full-Time, On-Site)
THE ROLE:
Roc Nation is looking for a Head of Artist Relations for Equity Distribution (EQ). This position reports to the President of EQ and serves as a key member of the Artist Relations team solely focusing on clients on EQ’s roster. Bilingual proficiency is a mandatory requirement for this position. As the Head of Artist Relations, you will lead Roc Nation’s efforts to attract and develop talent, overseeing the creative process from initial discovery to commercial launch. Your strong network within the U.S. artist, management, and legal communities will be instrumental in identifying and securing top-tier talent.
In this role, you will be responsible for growing and managing the Artist Relations team, identifying opportunities with both established and up-and-coming artists, and ensuring a smooth transition from onboarding to music distribution. You will also collaborate with internal teams to connect artists with Roc Nation’s in-house songwriters and producers.
Additionally, you will play a crucial role in championing artists’ creative visions, working closely with Roc Nation’s global marketing, commerce, and sales teams to ensure cohesive strategies and impactful execution.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO:
- Identify and pitch available established and superstar artists
- Manage the Artist Relations team
- Manage the administrative and deal-making process
- Research, identify and sign emerging talent
- Identify catalog and label client prospects
- Develop and manage a process to assign the flow of artist referrals to the team
- Provide detailed analysis of prospective artist careers and audience engagement
- Forecast commercial viability based on data analysis
- Work closely with Business Affairs to formulate deal proposals
- Work closely with the publishing creative staff to find songs and creative collaboration opportunities with Kobalt published writers and producers
- Support and enhance signed artist’s creative vision
- Support these clients with distribution, marketing and release planning advice and best practices working in tandem with marketing and A&R teams, as required on higher-profile campaigns
- Support releases across both digital and physical supply chains, as necessary
- Liaise with internal departments, from operations and digital marketing to finance, legal and A&R
- Manage marketing and promo budgets where required
- Onboard new clients in tandem with other teams as necessary
- Guide internal A&R admin process to ensure A&R and Content Operations teams are working efficiently.
- Oversee the recording, production, mastering, sequencing of artist projects.
- Work with senior management and A&R to regularly review and audit rosters, offering insight to those partners that should be up-streamed for broader services and to streamline workflow to current priorities
- Consistently inform and educate clients with current and developing best practices across the industry
- Provide in-depth data analysis, marketing strategy and digital health checks where required
- Provide reporting and feedback to clients, line managers and executives, as required
- Represent EQ at artist showcases & gigs, plus relevant industry conferences and events
- Continually strive to offer ideas for improvement, development and entrepreneurship across your own role and that of the team
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING:
- Full bilingual working proficiency in Spanish and English is required (verbal and written)
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in a label, distribution or product management role within a progressive label or distributor and can demonstrate excellent working knowledge of digital and physical music distribution and supply chain, as well as DSP processes
- Knowledgeable about the music industry in the USA
- Experience or a working understanding of digital music marketing and promotions
- Ability to build and nurture internal and external relationships at all levels and can demonstrate an understanding of the needs of artists and labels for building and maximizing their release campaigns
- Flexible, adaptable and a strategic thinker with the ability to remain highly organized and efficiently structure and prioritize your workload

Salary
Base salary: $175,000 - $225,000 annually
** Pay is based on several factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
