Inspire and be inspired

Our mission is to ‘inspire learners and change lives’ – and that includes our staff. We want to empower our teams in order for pupils to leave us ready to be kind, confident and impactful world citizens – ‘participants, not bystanders’. To help us, we wish to appoint an exceptional, dynamic Head of Creative Technology Faculty who is ambitious, has a real passion for their subject and demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities. The successful candidate will have the drive, determination and motivation to inspire both staff and students as well as possess the ability to deliver an outstanding educational experience that will make a significant difference to the lives of our pupils.

The Creative Technology faculty here at Brittons currently consists of Design & Technology; Construction; Food Preparation & Nutrition and Art. We would welcome applications from specialist teachers with experience of teaching and leading these subjects. In addition, we would be keen to interview candidates who may be able to expand the current provision with additional, relevant qualifications. The Head of Faculty would usually be required to assume direct accountability for at least one specialist area within the faculty dependent on strengths and specialism.

Our new Head of Faculty will enhance provision as a result of their creativity, forward-thinking and robust strategic oversight and accountability for the effectiveness of the faculty. The successful candidate will have high expectations of all learners in line with our aim for ‘excellence in all that we do’, ensuring every learner achieves to the best of their ability. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to inspire, challenge and lead Heads of Department within the faculty. You must be a reflective practitioner and be committed to strong personal growth and continuing professional development.

In return, we offer:

  • High quality professional development
  • Supportive and friendly colleagues
  • Flexible working opportunities
  • Staff assistance programme including virtual GP appointments, counselling service, legal services
  • Access to the Teacher Pension Scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme

Applications

Please forward your application to Rose Toth, HR Officer at hr@elatschools.co.uk by 12pm Thursday 27th February 2025.

Interviews are scheduled to take place week beginning 3rd March.

Please note that the Trust reserves the right to interview prior to the deadline date.

Empower Learning Academy Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer that is committed to safer recruitment. All applicants must be prepared to undergo screening to confirm their suitability to work with children.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
