Alfred Street Baptist Church, located in the heart of Alexandria, Virginia, is looking for a passionate Event Planner to join our team. This is your chance to play a key role in bringing to life a wide array of inspiring church-wide events. As our Event Planner, you'll coordinate and bring energy to every detail of our church's events. From festive Easter services to vibrant community outreach programs, you'll ensure each event is memorable and runs smoothly. You'll work closely with different teams to create experiences that connect our community and uphold our church’s values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Smoothly orchestrate logistics for various church programs and special events.
- Plan and execute significant church events such as the HBCU Festival and Alfred Street Experience with enthusiasm and attention to detail.
- Manage budgets carefully, ensuring every event is cost-effective without sacrificing quality.
- Serve as a project liaison, working collaboratively with different church departments to ensure flawless event execution.
- Partner with our Communications team to craft engaging promotional strategies for each event.
- Forge strong relationships with vendors, negotiating services that enhance our event experiences.
- Take charge of event registrations, keeping tabs on participation to continuously improve our events.
- Suggest and implement creative ideas to enhance the planning process and event experiences.
- Tackle special projects with creativity and initiative.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when our most exciting events happen!

Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in event planning, showing a track record of successful events.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Event planning certifications (such as Certified Event Planner or Certified Meeting Professional) are a plus.
- You’ll need a valid driver’s license as some travel may be involved.
