ABOUT THE ROLE
Pushkin is looking for an enterprising reporter and talented writer to work on a variety of projects, across a wide range of topic areas. This position requires broad intellectual curiosity, deep research and reporting chops, excellent writing skills, proven storytelling prowess, and an appetite for working collaboratively. The writer/reporter will work closely with Malcolm Gladwell, showrunners, marketing team members, and production staff on projects that range widely in scope and ambition. Assignments may include original research, reporting, interviews, and writing for podcasts, audiobooks, custom content, and advertisements. This role will report to the Director of Content and will be based in New York, NY.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Researching, sourcing archival materials
Original reporting including finding and interviewing sources, field reporting
Pulling quotes and clips, and drafting story outlines
Writing podcast scripts, advertisements, and audiobook copy
Developing original ideas for podcasts, custom work, ads, and audiobooks
Fact checking as needed
Working with clients to identify, develop, and meet their storytelling goals
Managing project calendars, coordinating with operations, production and other departments to ensure timely delivery of assignments
Work with the marketing team to gather any materials needed for marketing/promotion
Contributing in audio and video storytelling, as needed
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have the following:
5-8 years of journalism experience, with a focus on writing
Demonstrated ability to take a project from initial concept to final delivery
Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Highest standards for journalistic integrity and ethics
Self-motivation and an enterprising spirit
Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically-dispersed teams
Experience reporting on artificial intelligence is a bonus, as is experience working in either video or audio production.
