Job Description

MSNBC is looking for an Associate Tape Producer to join the PoliticsNation team.

The main responsibility of Tape AP is assisting Segment Producers with locating, viewing, and editing videotape for broadcast. The AP needs to be up-to-date on show rundowns to ensure that all video footage is in place and is current. Must be able to quickly turnaround video while on air and during breaking news situations.

This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Notify control room/line producer of images coming in for Breaking News
2. Straight cut video and work with editors when needed
3. Available to assist producers with interplay/desktop editing
4. Help coordinate media coverage during breaking news
5. Ensure video producers are aware of video restrictions and contracted media is purged once it has lapsed

Qualifications:

1. At least 2 years experience in research and news production
2. At least 2 years of tape, field and editing experience required
3. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Desired:

1. Excellent news judgment
2. Excellent writing skills
3. Candidate must possess strong editorial skills: Knowledge of current events, U.S. politics, geopolitics, and history
4. Up to date on periodicals, including OP-Eds
5. Ability to work in tandem with Producers, Correspondents and Anchors
