Position Mission
The Media and Communications Manager will lead FOCUS' public-facing communication strategies to enhance its brand image, foster relationships with media outlets, and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms. The Media and Communications Manager will work closely with the Director of Digital Marketing, and the leadership team to execute campaigns that align with FOCUS' mission and values. This role requires a dynamic communicator who excels at building relationships, crafting compelling narratives, and managing crises when necessary.

For this role, we anticipate paying $80,000 - $85,000/year. (This role is also eligible for bonus pay.) This range is an estimate. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the provided range and will be adjusted based on various factors including qualifications, experience, abilities, geographic location, and duties.

The Media and Communications Manager will work closely with the Director of Digital Marketing, and the leadership team to execute campaigns that align with FOCUS' mission and values. Position Responsibilities:
Media Relations:
- - Develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets and journalists.
- - Proactively pitch stories and secure media coverage for FOCUS' events, initiatives, and campaigns.
- - Manage media inquiries and serve as the primary spokesperson when required.
Public Relations Strategy:
- - Create and execute a comprehensive PR strategy that aligns with FOCUS' marketing goals.
- - Monitor industry trends and public sentiment to adapt messaging as needed.
- - Plan and coordinate press releases, media events, and interviews.
Content Development:
- - Write and edit press releases, speeches, talking points, and media kits.
- - Collaborate with the content team to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
Crisis Management:
- - Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential challenges.
- - Work with leadership to ensure timely and appropriate responses to sensitive issues.
Measurement & Reporting:
- - Track media coverage and PR campaign performance, providing regular reports to leadership.
- - Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and refine future efforts.
Qualifications:
- - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- - 1+ years of experience in public relations or media relations
- - Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- - Proven ability to develop and maintain media relationships
- - Familiarity with Catholic teaching and values is highly preferred
- - Experience with crisis management and media training
- - Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
