Position Overview:
This Law Enforcement Agency is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grant Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, applying for, and managing grants and funding opportunities to support the agency’s programs, initiatives, and operational needs. This position requires a strong understanding of law enforcement practices, excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various departments to secure funding for critical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities from government, private, and nonprofit funding sources that align with the agency’s goals and priorities.
- Write and submit well-crafted, compelling grant proposals, ensuring compliance with grant guidelines and deadlines.
- Develop budgets, track expenditures, and ensure proper financial reporting for all awarded grants.
- Collaborate with department heads and other key stakeholders to understand funding needs and objectives.
- Manage the grant application process, from initial research to final submission, and assist in grant reporting and renewals.
- Maintain a database of funding opportunities and ensure all grants are properly tracked and monitored.
- Prepare internal reports to communicate the status and impact of grant-funded projects to agency leadership.
- Ensure all grants meet legal, financial, and regulatory requirements for compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Administration or Public Health, Social Work, or Criminal Justice (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Proven experience in grant writing within the law enforcement or public safety sectors.
- Strong understanding of law enforcement policies, programs, and funding structures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, grant management software, and other relevant tools.
- Ability to work independently or alongside a collaborative team.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local funding processes related to law enforcement and public safety.
- Familiarity with writing for government and private sector grants.
- Experience in budget development and financial reporting for grants.
